Goddess Spotlight with Jess Sleep - Co-founder of Copper Co Bikes
Copper Co. Bikes was created after owners Chris & Jess saw a gap in the market to offer a unique and bespoke style bicycle range, using copper as their main finish.
With hand selected genuine leather accessories and a locally sourced electroplated finish, these bikes are sure to attract the most discerning eye.
All bikes are individually made to the customers specifications to create a more customised and personal experience.
Chris & Jess believe Copper Co Bikes to be the best addition to any style conscious commuter with a touch of class to set you apart from the pack.
Hey Jess, thanks so much for taking the time to answer some questions for our Goddess Spotlight!
Firstly, tell us a little bit about who you are and what you do.
I am the co-founder of Copper Co Bikes. Copper Co Bikes are all hand-refined in Melbourne. With their beautiful copper electroplated finish, high-end bike components and the ability to personalize every aspect of the bike, it’s a company I’m super proud to be a part of.
Owning a company, your job becomes EVERYTHING and ANYTHING! Marketing, Website, PR, Design, Meetings with Suppliers, Meetings about meetings, meetings about the strategy for the meetings. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
What We Do In the Shadows
Red wine or white?
Morning person or night person?
Surprisingly a morning person. (C O F F E E !)
If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
Was JUST having this conversation with my boyfriend. Definitely, Tel Aviv! Beach, Hummus and the best party life!
Where and how do you work best?
At my home office with great music, a cup of coffee and plenty of natural light.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
My sister is a firm believer of taking time for yourself. Having time without my phone, exercising and reading is my way to rebooting!
“Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher.” – Oprah Winfrey
Who are your biggest influences? Who do you admire most? Who or what inspired you to do what you’re doing now?
Mia Freedman is a huge influence for me. I quote her all day. She is such a hard worker, speaks her mind, and supports women who have started their own business.
Chris (my partner and business partner) and I were both inspired by the beautiful way copper was being incorporated into home interiors. Looking at our passion of bike riding, we saw huge potential in using the beautiful copper finish into bikes.
What has been your biggest challenge so far?
With Copper Co, finalizing our build and supplier was the hardest part. It was hard for us to say "THIS IS IT", but I know that we got there in the end.
What’s your best advice for handling criticism?
Put it away. Honestly, if it came from a good place it would be "constructive feedback" and not criticism.
What’s next for you and Copper Co?
Going to trade fairs, working on selling Copper Co Components and working on some preeeeety cool collaborations.
If a young girl or boy walked up to you asking for your advice on life, what would it be?
I really do believe that your natural instinct is the best indicator of the decisions you should be making. Essentially, listen to the advice your body is giving you.
For us, lipstick is something which gives us that extra boost of confidence, what gives you confidence to take on each and every day?
